This is a RARE find. This is an original croquis (fashion design) from Hubert de Givenchy’s Winter 1995-96 runway brochure featuring his haute couture collection. We recently purchased 3 black and white designs from this collection; see others in our shop. This collection was the LAST of Givenchy's work before he retired at the end of 1995 after a 43 year career. The fashion plate will come with a copy of the personal "thank you" signed by Givenchy that was included in the runway brochure as it was his LAST couture event! The croquis was sent by invitation to private clients to attend the haute couture runway show featuring the season’s 1995-1996 Fall-Winter Collection. This one was sent to a prominent French socialite. The design was one of several placed in a folder and represented a sample of the collection to its clientele. It included a detailed documentation which noted styling, fabric, accessories, makeup, fragrances, shoes, jewelry etc. even the music that would be used in the runway show. The croquis is in MINT condition. It is crisp with black/gray tones on pristine white. This fashion design is done on thick stock. It showcases a black evening dress that is sculptured with a deep V-neck bodice, fitted skirt close to the body with a mid-skirt bow and full lower flair. Note the textures of the fabric, the jewelry, the hint of red lipstick, and the long over the elbow gloves. Note too the shoulder length hairstyle! Perfect for today's fashionista. 8 x 11.5 inches.
