This antique cameo on shell is well-preserved in a shadowbox style frame. The shell is held in place with small gold colored metal posts, which sit atop chocolate velvet fabric. The wooden frame is painted gold with reddish-brown undertones, picking up the warm tones of the shell and fabric. The detail of the cameo is exquisite. It was determined to be from the mid- to late- 19th century. It has been in our family for generations.
