This painting depicts a gathering of female figures in a traditional or communal setting, known to be a common theme in this style of African art. The figures take nearly abstract forms, all done in vibrant, expressive colors. But each woman is unique, one carrying a baby on her back while proceeding out of the picture, another passing in the opposite direction bearing a loaded basket on her head, and two just seated, watching—itself, an endless form of entertainment.
