This is a pair of 18th century hand colored copperplate engravings entitled "Felis Leo Linn Femina" and "Rhinoceros Unicornis Linn" from Dr. Johann Schreber's Die Saugthiere in Abbildungen nach der Natur (Mammals in Pictures after Nature). They were drawn by Johann Elias Ridinger (1698–1767). "Felis Leo Linn Femina" depicting a lioness and her two cubs is Plate XCVIIB and was engraved by H. I. Thyroff. "Rhinoceros Unicornis Linn" depicting an endangered Indian rhinoceros is Plate LXXVII and was engraved by Georg Paul Nussbiegel (1713-1776). These hand colored engravings are presented in identical beautiful burl wood frames and double mats. They would make an attractive display grouping. Each frame measures 17" x 14.57" x 0.88". They can be purchased separately, if preferred, for $650/each. Send us a message if you would like to purchase one of these prints to initiate the process.
