An oil on board painting by American artist George S. Coggeshall (1914-1994). This abstract work has vibrant intertwining shapes against a yellow background. Estate stamped verso, this work is displayed in a silver tone wooden frame. Born in Elgin, Illinois, Coggeshall served as an artist and illustrator for the Navy during World War II in the Pacific. After the war, he returned to Chicago where he studied at the American Academy of Art and the Mizen Art Academy. He went on to become a successful commercial artist working for Meyercord Decal where he had well known clients such as RC Cola, Nehi, and Phillip Morris.
