This beautiful poppy print of a colored pencil drawing is by Illinois artist John Ekstrom. Ekstrom was born in Chicago and spent time in the Air Force after receiving his MFA at the University of Illinois. He was a beloved teacher who taught drawing and painting in central Illinois for over 25 years. A superior draftsman, Ekstrom is versatile and works easily in abstraction and realism. Subjects of his are often influenced by trips to California.
