Thailand's Nuttiya uses acrylic paint and applications of foil in low relief to create this painting in the image of the leaf of the tree of enlightenment. Buddha achieved enlightenment while meditating beneath such a tree, which became known as a bodhi, or "enlightened" tree. Some such trees in Thailand are said to derive from cuttings of the original bodhi.
