A rare vintage First Edition offset lithograph print after painting "The Doge Embarking on the Bucentaur" by Francesco Guardi. Comes from a rare First Limited American Edition art folio published in the U.S. in the 1950s. Printed on one side. Hand tipped on a sheet of heavy paper. Information regarding the original artwork will be found by lifting the piece. Excellent condition, never framed. Overall 14.75"W x 10.75"H Image 10.25"W x 6.5"H The Bucentaur was the state barge of the doges of Venice. It was used every year on Ascension Day up to 1798 to take the doge out to the Adriatic Sea to perform the "Marriage of the Sea" – a ceremony that symbolically wedded Venice to the sea every year on the "Festa della Sensa".
