The frescoes were commissioned from domenichino (domenico zampieri) by cardinal odoardo farnese; the titular abbot of this abbey. This print originates from 'picturae dominici zampierii, vulgo domenichino, quae extant in sacello sacrae aedi cryptoferratensi adjuncto tabulis aeneis incisae' published 1762.
