: Antique print titled 'Bma Virgo S. S. Nilum, and Bartholomew pomo aureo donated'. Scarce plate of Saint Nilus and Saint Bartholomew kneeling to the Holy Virgin flanked by angels. After one of the frescoes painted by Domenico Zampieri for the Abbey of Grottaferrata (near Rome). This Abbey was founded by St. John the Baptist. The frescoes were commissioned from Domenichino (Domenico Zampieri) by Cardinal Odoardo Farnese; the titular Abbot of this Abbey. This print originates from 'Picturae Dominici Zampierii, vulgo Domenichino, quae extant in sacello sacrae aedi cryptoferratensi adjuncto tabulis aeneis incisae' published 1762. Artists and Engravers: Made by 'F. Bartolozzi' after 'Domenico Zampieri' Francesco Bartolozzi (Florence, 21 September 1727 – 7 March 1815, Lisbon) was an Italian engraver whose most productive period was spent in London. Domenico Zampieri (October 21, 1581 – April 6, 1641) was an Italian Baroque painter of the Bolognese or Carracci School of painters. Condition: Good, given age. Some staining near the edges, not affecting image. Two tiny worm holes upper left and right margin, not affecting image. Original middle fold as issued. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study image carefully.
