Aleksei Vasilievich von Hanzen (1876–1937) was a Russian marine painter recognized for his seascapes and naval subjects. He studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg and later in Europe, and was awarded the title of Academician by the Imperial Academy. Von Hanzen exhibited widely in Russia and internationally, and his works were acquired by members of the Russian Imperial family as well as prominent collectors. His paintings are held in museum collections including the State Russian Museum and other regional institutions.
