Pair of Islamic Architectural Ornament Prints, Konya Mosque Inscriptions, 1924 This attractive pair of original chromolithographs comes from L'Art Islamique en Orient – IIe Partie, the celebrated architectural folio published in Constantinople (Istanbul) in 1924 by architect Alexandre M. Raymond. The two plates were conceived as companion studies and illustrate ornamental inscription panels from the historic Alaeddin Mosque in Konya, one of the most important surviving monuments of Seljuk architecture in Anatolia. The first plate, titled Mosquée d'Allaédin à Konia – Motif avec Inscription (XIIIe Siècle), depicts a richly detailed architectural niche incorporating geometric stonework and Arabic inscriptions. The composition highlights the remarkable integration of calligraphy and architecture that characterizes medieval Islamic design. The second plate, Mosquée d'Allaédin à Konia – Encadrement avec Inscription (XIIIe Siècle), presents a related inscription panel framed within a striking star-shaped geometric surround.
