He studied at the College of Juilly, worked for a time in London, then returned to Paris to study at Académie Julian. He was a very prolific artist and illustrator for more than four decades. His huge body of work Dignimont's solidifies place in the tradition or uniquely Parisian art. His love of provocative women, café life, and the environs, documents a unique insight into the Parisian experience. Dignimont was primarily a water colour artist in the tradition of Jules Pascin. He incorporates pen and ink and washes of colour that become very distinct as a style of his own. He also illustrated more than fifty books and created designs for the Paris opera and the Comédie Française.
