This is a rare complete set of eight antique ALKEN, Henry. The Quorn Hunt. London: 8 hand-coloured aquatint plates, hunting prints titled 'The Quorn Hunt' Drawn & Etched by H Alken, and engraving by F C Lewis circa 1835. The Quorn Hunt, usually called the Quorn, established in 1696 in Leicestershire by Thoomas Boothby, is one of the world's oldest fox-hunting packs and claims to be the United Kingdom's most famous hunt. There are extracts from a narrative by Charles Apperley engraved below and the main figures all carefully keyed. Among them are George Osbaldeston, master of the Quorn hounds, Dick Christian, a celebrated rough rider at Melton Mowbray', and an outsider called 'Snob'. Other charackters depicture Lord Alvanley, Sir Harry Goodricke, Lord Bradenell, Lord Kinnaird, Lord Forester, Sir James Musgrave, Sir F Burdett, Capt Berkeley and Hon Col Lowther.
