Up for sale is this beautiful chromolithograph from The Rev. Francis Orpen Morris's "A Natural History Of The Nests And Eggs Of British Birds", published in London in 1867, one of several plates from this book we are currently selling. It is matted in a pH neutral 11" x 14" mat for ease of framing in a readymade frame and is in excellent condition, as pictured, with age toning commensurate with age. About the artist: Francis Orpen Morris (25 March 1810 – 10 February 1893) was an Anglo-Irish clergyman, notable as a 'parson-naturalist' (ornithologist and entomologist), and as the author of many children's books, as well as works on natural history and heritage buildings. He was a pioneer in the movement to protect birds from the plume trade and was a co-founder of the Plumage League.
