This unique antique Fish print is from the “Dictionary of Natural History and Phenomena” authored by the French entomologist Felix Guerin (1799-1874). It was published in the early 1800s. What makes this series noteworthy is that the natural history subjects are organized alphabetically not by major categories (e.g. Botany, Insects, etc). This leads to some interesting combinations on the prints – Plants and Insects, Herbs and Fish, etc. Many of the subjects are presented in a natural setting. The Fish shown on this print include Plaice and Sole. It measures 7 x 10 inches and is in excellent condition. This is an original antique hand colored engraving – not a reproduction. It is carefully packaged in an archival plastic sleeve with backing board, and shipped in a cardboard flat mailer with cardboard insert. “Do Not Bend” labels are affixed to the front and back of the mailer. Multiple print purchases are combined into a single shipment which can reduce the total shipping charge.
