Beautiful set of two hand-colored engravings by R. Pollard & Sons from paintings by the son, James Pollard. R. Pollard & Sons was a well-known engraver with many commissions from the King operating from 1817-1826 in Holloway near London. Each engraving of a sporting scene of an equestrian hunt is hand colored on wove paper in exquisite color and detail. Both are marked "Published March 5, 1822 by R. Pollard & Sons Holloway near London" and are expertly framed and matted in gold gilt frames. Framed measurements are approximately 18"w x 9"h x 0.5"d. Artwork measurements are approximately 14"w x 4.5"h. It is hard to determine the exact age as the engravings have not been examined outside of their frames. The framing appears to have been done around the mid-century, but the actual engravings are probably much older due to the impression marks and engraved signature.
