George Baxter’s 1849 color print “View from a Deserted Rock-Quarry on the Wye,” after John Frederick Tennant. Baxter also referred to this work as “View of the Wye from Symonds Yatt.” This miniature Victorian print was produced using the Baxter process, combining an aquatint key plate with oil colors printed from engraved wood blocks. Similar examples are documented in the collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Presented in an attractive black and gilt frame with red matting.
