A finely executed 19th-century academic copy of Raphael’s celebrated 1504 composition The Marriage of the Virgin. The work closely follows the original arrangement, depicting the marriage ceremony of the Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph before the high priest, with a classical domed temple rising in the background. The painting retains its period gilt gesso frame and shows natural age-appropriate craquelure and surface toning consistent with late 19th-century materials. The canvas is mounted on a traditional keyed stretcher, typical of European workshop practice of the period. Overall, a well-preserved devotional and academic rendering of one of Raphael’s most iconic early Renaissance compositions. Canvas dimensions 16” x 24”
