Born in Vienna, Klingsbögl refined his craft by taking study trips to major art hubs like Paris and Munich. He was not only an active painter but also the founder of a highly regarded painting school in Vienna. He had a brother, Hermann Klingsbögl (1894–1943), who was also a painter. Klingsbogl is known for his genre scenes of everyday life - here he portrays a traveler’s first glimpse of the beautiful early-Baroque Augustinian chapel and surrounding monastery.
