$750

70s Original Alex Katz Exhibition NOW (National Organization of Women). Poster Spectacular, Oversized, Original, Lithograph poster by artist Alex Katz, in coordination with with the New York Chapter of N.O.W. (National Organization for Women) This artwork was created by Katz, to bring awareness and raise financial support to benefit the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), by Congress, in 1972. This image was wrapped around a historic building, in Times Square, in 1972, months prior to the Congressional vote to ratify an amendment declaring women legally equal to men This women's movement, to include an ERA amendment was first drafted in 1923 by two leaders of the women’s suffrage movement 50 years later, in 1972, the amendment still fell short of the requisite number states needed to ratify and add it to the Constitution To date, any legally binding inclusion or declaration saying women have the same rights as men, has never been recognized by the Constitution. I remember seeing these enormous billboards in Times Square in 1972. Measurements 42" L x 13" H This poster is a focal and a very timely tribute to the "Suffragettes" of 1972 and to the new generation of woman today, still marching and fighting, now more than ever, for equality.
