Original painting on board by Arthur Saron Sarnoff from the Estate of Charles Martignette. The piece features three horses running in the water with trees on the embankment. It is signed by the artist at the lower left. It was originally obtained as a gift from Charles Martignette, an extraordinary collector of illustration art. This is one of four horse paintings that Charles Martignette gave my client. There is a photo of the four together if you are interested in the full collection, please contact me. I plan on listing them separately. Image only: 19.63” wide by 15.63”. Information from Heritage Auction House: .A student of John Clymer and Andrew Wyeth, Arthur Sarnoff (American, 1912-2000) enjoyed a successful career as a commercial artist and illustrator. Many of his illustrations appeared in classic American publications such as Collier's Esquire, McCall's, Good Housekeeping, and Cosmopolitan. He was also lauded for his portraiture and Americana themed artwork. When maverick collector and historian Charles Martignette passed away in February 2008, his collection was already the stuff of legend, containing multiple canvasses by every major name in American illustration art from the last century.
