Funes's painting represents femininity and his artistic influences come from literature and artists such as Willem De Kooning, Oswaldo Vigas, but also from post-war German art for strength and dynamism and from Art Brut. His works have strong colour contrasts and his figures represent everyday life, beauty, encounters, loneliness, or other moods. He has participated in numerous exhibitions and has won awards.
