In Russia, the French invasion of 1812 is better known as a patriotic war, which highlights the character that the struggle assumed, of Russian national and popular resistance against the foreigner. By the end of the campaign, Napoleon's army - consisting of more than 600,000 soldiers, of which 450,000 were in the main mass led by the emperor - was reduced to just over 100,000 men. Losses amounted to 400,000 dead and missing; 100,000 prisoners fell into Russian hands. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
