I lived in North Philadelphia and Kensington for over a decade. My first studio after grad school was in the Badlands. I had a rickety balcony that had a great view of the neighborhood. Overtime I would watch the beginnings of gentrification happen while smoking cigarettes. I also saw someone get stabbed and many robberies. From time to time I miss it.
