Artist: Jonathan Lasker– American (1948- ) Title: Ball Figures I Date: 2003 Medium: Three Color lithograph on BFK Rives paper Publisher: Tamarind Institute. Tamarind number: 03-304 Image size: 19.75 x 28.5 inches Sheet size: 22.5 x 30 inches Matted size: 31.75 x 39.5 Framed size: 32.75 x 40.5 inches Signature: signed, dated, numbered lower left Edition: 85. This one: 11/85 This exceptional color lithograph is by the noted artist Jonathan Lasker (1948- ). This print is signed, dated and numbered in the lower left corner. The print is floating with a thick mat surrounding the sheet. The print, mat and UV Plexiglas are in very good condition, not examined out of the frame. Please consider that I am selling this print as matted, but not framed. The frame is in fair-to-poor condition. It was painted black and the paint is flaking. I will ship with the frame only for protection of the artwork. This print is one of three from the series “Ball Figures” Lasker created at Tamarind Press in 2003. Here is the artist describing the works: Jonathan Lasker states: In the case of this series of lithographs, which I call “Ball Figures,” round knots of scrawly black lines form ball shapes which are abutted next to one another to make forms which have human, animal, or plant associations. Also, in the backgrounds of these prints there are circles in alternating colors. These circles make patterns which partially fill the page ending in boundaries in the middle of the page forming horizon lines. In spots, groupings of circles are ringed-in by black lines which create subdominant figures in relation to the more pronounced “ball figures.” The picture which forms is arrived at by the viewer interpretively rather than literally."
