An original turn of the century Venetian watercolor painting by Italian artist Andrea Biondetti (b.1851-1946). Titled ‘The Bridge of Sighs’, the painting depicts the famous enclosed Bridge of Sighs (in Italian Ponte dei Sospiri), in Venice, Italy. Built in the early 17th century, it connects the Doge's Palace with the New Prison, and was designed by Antonio Contino. The painting is signed A Biondetti in the lower right corner and is set with a wide mat in a simple giltwood frame. On the back is written ‘The Bridge of Sighs’ in pencil, and a gold label reads “Fred Olsson’s Art Shop 9 Bovlston Street. Cambridge, Mass”. We have more art available.
