"Blue Roan" This painting was done as plein air painting in a show in Idaho, we were allowed access to a private ranch and I have always loved the color of a blue roan horse. Painting a horse from life is always tricky as you never know when they're going to walk away. But this guy stayed still long enough for me to get a good likeness. This original oil painting is set in a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted frame inspired by Western heritage. Framed distressed wood Black/Walnut frame. Wrapped in cowhide and accented with Western belts, detailed conchos, turquoise studs, spur Rawling and upholstery tacks which all add texture depth and rustic Western character.
