Signed in plate. Black and white woodcut by Bruno da Osimo. Bruno da Osimo, Bruno Marsili's art name (Osimo, 1888 - Ancona, 1962), was an Italian engraver and writer. He was an artist with a huge xylographic production, characterized by deeply religious and at times mystical lyricalism. His illustrated books show that he does not consider the book as just an object, but as an artwork where the text has to be closely related to graphics and decorations. In addition to wood engraving, he was also a designer of pottery and furniture designs, wrought iron works and handcrafted leather productions. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history.
