Mid-century abstract expressionist oil of a reclining nude on canvas by the noted Massachusetts artist Martha Elizabeth Moore (1913-1982). Moore gained fame in the 1960s for her enormously popular painting “The Barefoot Prodigy” which portrayed a young girl playing a cello. It was one of the most reproduced images of the 1960s and sales of lithographed posters distributed through the Hallmark chain of gift shops allowed Moore the freedom to pursue her art uninterrupted for the remainder of her life.
