Chinese donkey caravan scroll, a freely drawn depiction of laden pack donkeys in colored inks on paper, mounted on a shimmering, gold and dark green, silk brocade in a pine branch and circular medallions pattern. The scroll is signed on the bottom right with one red seal mark and has an inscription on the upper left with one red seal mark, all in caoshu script. The scroll has a white cord makio and kakio at the top and black jikusaki at the bottom. The outer scroll cover repeats the mounting. Circa mid century. Excellent vintage condition. The image size is 22.5" wide x 41.375" high. A caravan of donkeys carrying sacks of harvest grains is managed by a herd dog at the front and a herdsman and three women at the rear.
