Several boats are shown in the Oakland City Harbor, with gentle waves rolling through. In the background, there are several docks and buildings, with the Oakland skyline in the distance. Carol Sideman (American, b. 1925) was an artist from Oakland, California. Sideman studied at UCSF and California College of Arts and Crafts. She was an art and math teacher at Oakland City Junior High before becoming an architectural delineator. She later became a full-time artist. Reminiscent of the work of Marjorie Cathcart. Marjorie Cathcart earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of California, Berkeley in 1943. She studied with Lundy Seigrist, Catherine Hagen, Tom Holland, Anne O’Hanlon and influenced by Wayne Theibaud. She taught at the California College of Arts and Crafts.
