This striking painting depicts what first appears to be pure abstraction, rendered in tones of walnut, carnelian, and turquoise. Upon closer inspection, however, the viewer understands that this is a beach scene complete with parasols and beach cabanas. According to the artist the work represents a "visual record of attempt to collapse two nodes in time" Molly Dilworth is a Brooklyn-based artist who views creative practice as a form of research. Since earning her MFA from NYU in 2003, Dilworth has exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally. Using data from a specific site as a structure, she gives form to things that invisibly motivate our actions. Her work will be included in "Spontaneous Interventions: Design Actions for the Common Good" in the U.S. Pavilion at the 13th International Venice Architecture Biennale. This work was featured and illustrated in NYC&G New York Cottages and Gardens, March 2013, "Silver Lining", pp. 61-67 in an interior created by the renowned interior designer Celerie Kemble.
