Rendered with remarkable precision and depth, this masterfully executed etching with aquatint captures the commanding presence and piercing gaze of one of nature's most iconic birds. Born in Leipzig in 1895 as Kurt Ernst Meyer, Curt Meyer-Eberhardt studied in Weimar from 1912–1917 under Max Thedy, Theodor Hagen, and Walther Klemm. He later attended the Staatliche Bauhaus, where he studied portraiture under Lyonel Feininger before settling in Munich. His early work reflects Expressionist and Cubist influences, while his mature style developed into a distinctive blend of Impressionist and naturalistic realism. Meyer-Eberhardt achieved international recognition for his sensitive and technically accomplished depictions of animals, many of which were published by Hanfstaengl Editions in Munich. He died in 1977. Condition: Very good vintage condition, consistent with age. Minor tape residue on the reverse from previous framing; otherwise, the print presents beautifully.
