David & Nelson #72 C-Print By Paul Altmann

Chairish

$2,008

Systems - whether economic, governmental, social, economic or biological - are growing and striving for expansion. One possible endpoint of such a quest is collapse. Altmann tries playfully to approach this problem in a relatively simple experimental setup. The model grows into a symbol, which is based on its reduction to the shape, the twin towers of the World Trade Center. The use of this symbolism combines the interests and effects of a system that is difficult to understand. The title of the work is based on a colloquial name of the World Trade Center and refers to the brothers David and Nelson Rockefeller, which stand for the interaction between business and politics.
