David Emile Joseph de Noter was a Belgian painter born in Ghent (Flanders) from a family of painters and artists. His father Jean-Baptiste de Noter was a painter of cityscapes and interiors. Also, his is uncle Pierre Francois was a renowned painter. David de Noter mostly painted still lifes with flowers, vegetables, seafood, poultry and fruit. De Noter painted in a realistic style but with a pronounced romantic atmosphere. His work can be found in numerous museums, for example in Brussels, St. Petersburg (Hermitage Museum), The Hague, Berlin, Amsterdam, Mulhouse, Prague, Cambrai and Algiers.
