David Euler, Guilt, Gouache Drawing, 1987

Chairish

$824

Original Gouache on paper. Two figures silently interacting. A larger, female figure is sitting naked on the floor, reaching towards her knee. Standing next to her, in a doorway opposite to her, slightly to the side, a slender male silhouette with his head slightly bent and his arms falling to the side of his body. The male silhouette is positioned inside of a lit arched doorway. In this drawing one can experience the classic motif of dichotomy between the male and female figure. The standing, slim male in darker colored standing in the light versus the rather full sitting female in lighter tones and details sitting in a darker corner. The earth tones of the Gouache pallet allowed me to play with the illusion of light and transparency. The uneven rectangular space that the drawing is confined to is emphasizing its feeling of density and intensity of guilt. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
