Dessin Cups

Dessin is a collection of tea and coffee cups inspired by the cup holders called podstakannik which Irina had in her childhood home. The sculptural handles are a représentation of those silly, imperfect drawings Irina makes. Each designer has his way of expressing his ideas, but most of the time, everything starts with a sketch or a doodle. The handles are those sketches brought to into a 3D shape, and they are interchangeable. Dessin cups are part of the Extraordinary Objects collection. It was part of the Here&Now exhibition during Detroit Month of Design 2021, and Proximity exhibition at Nationale Art Gallery, in Portland Oregon, December 2021. Materials:Hand blown borosilicate glass; 3D printed multi-jet fusion handles.Techniques: The glass is handblown in Istanbul, Turkey and the handles are 3D printed in Portland, Oregon.
