Optical grisaille rendering of Gérard de Lairesse’s “Drunken Silenus with Nymphs” (after 1640–1711), Dutch School, circa 1800. The oak panel depicts Silenus reclining amid nymphs, satyrs, and putti beneath trees and architecture, executed in warm browns and grays over a minium (red lead) ground visible through craquelure for optical warmth. Possible faded monogram and date lower right. Inscribed on reverse “Vinum cautis innocuum. Per Gerardum de Lairesse,” with early oil inventory “i96.” and later stenciled collection inventory “G.A.S. 689.” In an antique whitewashed wood frame with dentil cresting and beaded sight edge. panel: 16 x 20 inches frame: 22 ½ x 26 ½ inches
