Early 20th Century Charming Salvaged Oil/board Painting Of European Village Countryside Scene With Rich Colors
Chairish$450
This charming and expressive oil painting seems to have been painted on a salvaged board, or its self was possibly a panel as part of a furniture? Whatever its origin, we know It came from England with possible Italian or French origin. It depicts a village or country hill scene with deep colors of greens and reds, which enrich it visually. It also has a sense primitiveness and naiveness to it...we say this in the best sort of complimentary way. The brush strokes feel free and expressionaly sporadic, but they all come together to bring us this structure in the midst of nature. We think we are looking at either a church or bell tower. It's lovely all around and would be a great addition to almost any wall. Circa: Early 20th Century Condition: Consistent with age and wear, see photos Dimensions: 16 1/2" W x 1/4" D x 13" H
