Early 20th Century Hudepohl Beer Self-Framed Tin Sign

Chairish

$1,850

1910s; The Hudepohl Brewing Co. - Cincinnati, OH This lithographed tin sign with painted woodgrain finish and embossed gold inset features a a cheerful patron with his favorite beer of choice - a prominently labeled Hudepohl bottle. The bright gold field and faux woodgrain border are embossed directly into the tin and finished with a warm red-brown trim. The composition bears the hallmarks of period brewery art, designed to evoke comfort, trust, and a well-poured lager - important qualities leading up to the eventual Prohibition of the manufacturing and selling of alcohol. Founded in 1885 by Louis Hudepohl II, the Hudepohl Brewing Company became a staple of Cincinnati's rich German-American brewing heritage, surviving Prohibition and continuing for generations as a local favorite.
