John Falconar Slater was a renowned British landscape painter and one of the first artists in England to adopt Impressionistic painting techniques. Slater was born and died in the county of Northumberland, England, situated on the Scottish border. The region’s wild beauty, diverse scenery and rich history inform Slater’s awe-inspiring Romantic landscapes. There are 37 paintings by Slater in the British National Art Collection.
