Serene American Impressionist Landscape Antique San Diego Painter Early 1900s Damaged This beautiful American impressionist landscape is signed by Walter Earl Bradway and depicts a winding dirt road in a hilly, vegetated area. It was very probably done Plein Aire in the manner Bradway often liked to work. Oil on canvas. Damaged Measuring: Canvas -12 by 16 inches. In the style of late 19th, early 20th-century impressionist landscape painting, featuring areas of light impasto. Condition Report: This painting has two ancient repairs. The over 100 year old painting shows its age with some fraying on the edges, the echo of the shape of the stretchers holding it and other age related changes. Nevertheless, this painting carries an inexorable sense of calm strength, of serenity. Please see all photos for condition. Bradway was born in Denver, CO on Dec. 28, 1882 and settled in San Diego, CA with his family in 1893. He died there on April 7, 1963. Exh: San Diego Art Guild, 1937.
