Entitled Elm, this early 20th century graphite on paper study is by the artist Ruth Brown Kroscher (1893-1986) who was a Chicago artist, teacher, and botanist. She studied at Northwestern University and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, and taught art in Wisconsin until 1919. She lectured on and wrote a book about roses with her husband's photography that is still unpublished. Throughout her life, Ruth was eager to learn in both classroom and informal settings. 20th Century Graphite on Paper 8.25"x12" unframed Good vintage condition with signs of aging.
