Émile François Jacques Compard (1900–1977), abstract oil on canvas, signed lower left “Compard”. Compard studied at the École nationale supérieure des beaux‑arts, the Académie Julian and the Académie cubiste d’Araujo in Paris, and became one of the leading representatives of post‑war French abstraction. Until 1946 he painted mainly in a realist style, but his breakthrough came with his shift towards non‑figurative painting, as seen in this dynamic abstract composition. The work combines structured geometry with a refined palette, typical of the École de Paris and Compard’s mature period. homify Technique: oil on canvas Dimensions (canvas): 62 × 50 cm Framed dimensions: 81.5 × 70 cm Signed: lower left “Compard” Condition: very good original condition, with minor age‑consistent wear to the surface and frame; ready to hang.
