Colour lithograph titled spanish beach by british-born artist enid chauvin (1910–2001), printed by the curwen press and issued circa 1970. the composition depicts fishing boats drawn up along a mediterranean shoreline beneath a luminous yellow sky. Rhythmic masts cut across the picture plane, while a solitary fisherman working in shadow anchors the foreground with quiet human presence. The image combines strong graphic design with a confident sense of space and structure. this impression is signed and numbered 2/75 in pencil beneath the image. chauvin trained in the early 1930s and later worked in graphic design in hong kong before settling in corsica. Her work reflects a refined graphic sensibility, balancing bold colour fields with disciplined composition and architectural clarity. another impression from the same edition (20/75) is held in the uk government art collection (gac no. L518), acquired from curwen press in february 1970. the curwen press was one of britain’s most respected twentieth-century fine art printing studios, known for technically accomplished lithographic production and collaborations with leading artists. Presented unframed and in good vintage condition, with strong colour and clear pencil signature / edition number. Minor age-related wear, including two small pin holes and light edge wear. No significant foxing, staining, tears or damage.
