This original reproduction of Amadeo Modigliani's 'Girl with Pigtails' portrays one of Modigliani's most famous works, thought to be painted in 1917 or 1918 when he fled to the south of France to leave the instability of Paris during World War I. It was painted shortly before his death, after having a daughter with his mistress. This study is dated and signed in the lower right corner '60 and 'O'. Mid-century, unframed acrylic on masonite. Signed on the back is 'Philip Stewart.'
