Helen was an excellent artist, engraver and etcher, known for her portrayal of Japanese women and child, this charming reflects both - A MOTHER & CHILD. Graduating from Wellesley College for Girls, San Francisco Art Design and San Francisco Art Insititute , Hyde was introduced to the "Japonism" movement and the paintings of Mary Cassett American Impressionism.
