Signed lower right, 'Edmond Woods' (American, nd painted circa 1975. Born in Ogden, Edmond Woods first studied under LeConte Stewart at the University of Utah. After moving to San Diego in 1926, Woods studied under Maurice Braun and continued his studies at the Otis Art Institute and the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles. Woods was a member of the La Jolla Art Association, San Diego Artist's Guild, Riverside Art Association, National City Art Association, and the Desert Art Center in Palm Springs. He exhibited widely and with success and was the recipient of numerous medals, prizes and juried awards. A student of the Southwestern Native American cultures, he is well known for his portrayals of Navajo Indian children and for his California, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado landscape and harbor scenes. He His works are held in the permanent collection of the Ford Motor Company.
