Chairish

$258

The Greek Soldier and the Bacchant is an original modern artwork realized by Ferdinand Bac (1859 - 1952) in 1922. Signed and dated on plate on the lower left corner: F.Bac 1922. Original Lithograph on paper. Perfect conditions. The Greek Soldier and the Bacchant is an excellent Liberty Lithograph depicting a Greek soldier with his distinctive helmet and a female figure in front of him. The figure has an extremely rich and refined hair with leaves between the very long braids. She is naked and covered only by a transparent veil. The body is sinuous and sensual and shows itself in all its beauty. On the background we see a city perched on a cliff and a sky full of clouds on the background. This work was realized the French artist Ferdinand Bac (1859 - 1952). Ferdinand-Sigismond Bach, known as Ferdinand Bac was a French cartoonist, artist and writer, son of an illegitimate nephew of the Emperor Napoleon. As a young man, he mixed in the fashionable world of Paris of the Belle Époque, and was known for his caricatures, which appeared in popular journals. He also traveled widely in Europe and the Mediterranean. In his fifties, he began a career as a landscape gardener. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
